Domaine Jean-Claude Ramonet is one of Burgundy’s benchmark white-wine producers, based in Chassagne-Montrachet at the southern end of the Côte de Beaune. The domaine’s modern reputation was shaped by Jean-Claude Ramonet from the 1970s onwards. Today, the domaine is run by his children, Noël and Jean-Claude (Bibi) Ramonet, who continue the house style with the same quiet precision.
The estate farms around 15 hectares, with an exceptional spread of vineyards in Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. Highlights include Grand Crus Bâtard-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, alongside some of the appellation’s finest Premier Crus such as Les Ruchottes, Les Vergers, Morgeot and Les Caillerets. The domaine also produces a small amount of red Chassagne-Montrachet.
Viticulture is exacting, with low yields and careful attention to vine health. In the cellar, the approach is classical and understated: long fermentations, ageing in oak with restrained use of new barrels, and extended time on lees to build texture and complexity without excess. Stylistically, Ramonet’s wines are celebrated for their combination of power and precision — layered, mineral-driven and remarkably long-lived.
