Bright ruby in the glass, Bourgogne Rouge 2021 from Domaine Jean-Claude Ramonet shows aromas of red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry, with a light floral lift and a touch of spice. The palate is supple and finely balanced, with pure red-berry fruit, lively acidity and gentle tannins, finishing clean and fresh. It’s elegant and approachable, and works beautifully with roast chicken, grilled pork, mushroom dishes or charcuterie.
Domaine Jean-Claude Ramonet is a leading name in Chassagne-Montrachet, best known for its world-class white Burgundies. Founded in the late 1920s, the family estate farms around 17 hectares across Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin. The same precision and attention to detail seen in the whites carries through to the reds, delivering clarity and finesse even at Bourgogne level.
The 2021 vintage was marked by spring frosts and a cool season, resulting in lower yields and wines with bright acidity and moderate alcohol. In this wine, that translates into a fresh, perfumed and classically styled Pinot Noir that’s a pleasure to drink now.
