Parés Baltà Satèl·lit Carinyena Blanca 2023 shines a light on one of Catalonia’s rarest native grape varieties. Produced by the pioneering, family-owned Parés Baltà, this organic wine comes from high-altitude vineyards in Penedès, where cooler temperatures help preserve freshness and precision. The estate has long championed indigenous varieties, and Satèl·lit is part of its mission to recover and celebrate grapes that might otherwise have been lost.
The 2023 vintage is bright, energetic and wonderfully distinctive. Aromas of white peach, citrus blossom and ripe pear mingle with subtle notes of fennel and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, there's impressive texture balanced by crisp acidity, with flavours of lemon zest, stone fruit and a gentle saline edge carrying through to a long, refreshing finish. Characterful yet approachable, it's a fascinating expression of a little-known variety and a testament to Parés Baltà's innovative spirit.
A brilliant match for grilled sea bass, monkfish skewers or a saffron-infused seafood paella, where the wine's freshness and subtle savoury notes can really shine.
