In the glass the 2018 La Giaretta Oseleta shows rich dark berry fruit with notes of black cherry and plum, framed by spice, wild herbs and a firm, savoury tannic backbone. Acidity keeps the palate lively despite the dense extraction. A natural match is hearty dishes such as braised beef, roasted lamb or game, and it also stands up well to aged cheeses or rustic pasta with ragù.
The Oseleta is a rare indigenous grape from the Veneto/Valpolicella area known for intense colour, firm tannins and structure. It was nearly lost to history but has been revived in recent decades and is now permitted in Valpolicella and related DOC rules, though standalone bottlings remain uncommon.
The wine is vinified traditionally, destemmed, fermented on its skins to extract colour and tannin, and usually aged in large oak before bottling, resulting in a concentrated, deeply coloured profile typical of the variety.
