La Giaretta was founded in the late 1950s, by Bruno Vaona in the enchanting hill town of Valgatara, Valpolicella. Located approximately 200 meters above sea level, this region enjoys warm summer days, cool evenings, and mild winters, creating an ideal climate for grape cultivation. Today, Cantina La Giaretta remains a family-owned winery, now under the guidance of the wonderfully passionate – albeit a bit confusingly named – Francesco and Francesca Nicoli.
Every drop of Francesco and Francesca’s wines is produced from grapes grown on the estate. The native Corvina grape dominates their vineyards, contributing to the distinctive character of their wines. From the lighter and drier Valpolicella Volpare to its robust sibling, the Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico, which holds a distinguished place among the most important red wines in the Veneto region, their wines authentically capture the essence of the region without compromising on value.
