Henschke, Peggy's Hill Riesling, 2022

Henschke Peggy’s Hill Riesling 2022 is a bright, expressive dry Riesling from Eden Valley in South Australia named for a local landmark and made from fruit grown by a selection of long-standing growers on ancient, low-vigour Cambrian soils at high altitude. The vines, some up to around 50 years old, help give the wine concentrated flavour while the cool-climate site preserves crisp natural acidity and purity of fruit.

In the glass it shows a pale straw colour with green hues, and delivers lifted aromas of lime and citrus, floral notes and steely mineral nuances. On the palate, vivid lime and green apple flavours framed by thrilling, crunchy acidity and a long, mineral-driven finish.

The wine’s crisp acidity and citrus-inflected profile make it an excellent partner for fresh seafood and light, vibrant dishes. Try it with freshly shucked oysters, grilled prawns or a citrus-herb seafood salad; it also pairs beautifully with lightly spiced Asian cuisine or fresh goat’s cheese and herb salads that echo its zest and energy.
