The 2022 Clos du Chapeau is a charming, expressive Côte de Nuits-Villages. Medium-bodied with juicy red fruit, it also carries gentle spice and soft tannins and is supported by a clean mineral backbone. It’s Burgundian finesse without the fuss: subtle, balanced and confident.
Its fresh, nuanced style makes it wonderfully food-friendly, brilliant with roast chicken and mushrooms, duck breast with berry jus, simple pork loin with root veg, or a mushroom risotto. The wine’s savoury undertones and silky red fruit knit seamlessly into these dishes, making it as at home at a relaxed weekend supper as it is at a smarter dinner table.
Located in the village of Comblanchien, Clos Du Chapeau is a hat-shaped plot which is where its name comes from. The vines cover a surface of 1.6 hectares on soil that is a mixture of clay and limestone, ideal for revealing the pleasures of the Pinot Noir. Yields are limited to 35 hectolitres per hectare.
