At Domaine de L’Arlot, terroir takes centre stage. Since 2000, the estate has focused on organic methods, earning organic agriculture (“AB”) certification in 2014. Since 2003, biodynamic farming has also extended across all their plots.
Their winemaking philosophy lets nature lead, employing spontaneous fermentation in all wines. For reds, they vinify part of the whole crop when possible, resulting in lighter-colored wines. While stalks absorb pigment during fermentation, they add complexity and silkier tannins.
Domaine de L’Arlot’s Nuits St. George Rouge 1er Cru is medium-bodied, well-balanced, and fruity. The Nuits St. George Blanc Cuvee La Gerbotte, from younger Chardonnay vines planted between 1998 and 2000, grows on a limestone slab with thinner topsoil. The cooler micro-climate gives the wine a slightly cooler character.
