From one of the Mosel's most distinctive vineyard sites, Nonnengarten Riesling Trocken 2023 is a brilliant example of Clemens Busch's meticulous, terroir-driven approach. The vineyard's blue Devonian slate lends the wine remarkable precision and minerality, while organic and biodynamic farming allows the site to speak with exceptional clarity. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged on its lees, this is a dry Riesling of purity, energy and quiet complexity.
"Restrained on the nose. Slate savouriness is dominant. White pepper and fresh Nashi pear. Much more approachable on the palate. Salty and deeply juicy, grapefruit, red apple and vineyard peach. Opulently complex and rich in extract. Absolutely characterised by minerality. A purist reflection of the terroir."
94/100, Ulrich Sautter, Falstaff.com
Expect aromas of lime zest, green apple and white peach, underpinned by delicate herbal notes and a smoky slate character. The palate is taut and vibrant, with crisp citrus fruit, mouthwatering acidity and a long, saline finish that lingers beautifully.
Refreshing in its youth but with the structure to develop over the next decade, it's an outstanding partner for seafood, Asian cuisine or simply enjoyed on its own.
