In the glass, this Riesling shows ripe citrus, red apple, and stone fruit layered with herbal and spicy notes typical of the site. The red slate that dominates here provides the wines with a herbal‑spicy note, balanced with a definite off‑dry note. The palate is precise and energetic, with lively acidity framing the gentle residual sugar and a long, slate‑driven finish. The 2017 vintage offers both early charm and the structure to age well, pairing especially nicely with spicy cuisine, richer seafood, or dishes that benefit from a touch of sweetness balanced by acidity.
Rothenpfad was mentioned in the historic Mosel wine map as among the best in the region, and its steep slopes above Pünderich remain a defining site for the Busch family today. The vineyard is dominated by red slate, which strongly shapes the wine’s character and structure.
