The 2021 Estrelles de Batea Negre from Celler Alimara is a bright, modern red that captures the easy-drinking spirit of Terra Alta.
Its pale colour belies impressive depth — aromas of cherry and redcurrant lead into juicy, stewed raspberry on the palate, framed by fine tannins and lively acidity. Fresh, fruit-forward, and wonderfully balanced, it’s a versatile red that pairs effortlessly with cheese, pasta, pizza, or stroganoff.
The grapes come from 18-year-old, organically farmed vines on the west bank of the Algars — the only part of Catalonia on that side of the river — and were hand-harvested on 14th September, just as the weather began to turn.
