Château de Ferrand is a classified Grand Cru estate in Saint-Émilion on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. The property covers around 42 hectares of vineyard planted mainly to Merlot, with Cabernet Franc and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards sit on the limestone plateau typical of eastern Saint-Émilion, a terroir known for good drainage and natural freshness in the wines.
Château de Ferrand sits on the limestone plateau on the eastern side of Saint-Émilion and dates back to 1702, when it was founded by the lawyer and poet Elie de Bétoulaud at the court of Louis XIV.
Today the estate is owned by the Bich family, who acquired the property in 1978. Over the past two decades the family has invested significantly in vineyard replanting, drainage and cellar facilities, including a gravity-flow winery completed in the 2010s. These improvements helped the estate secure its status as a classified Saint-Émilion Grand Cru in the modern classification.
