Jane Eyre’s Volnay Village 2017 is a beautifully transparent expression of the appellation, and a vintage she’s particularly proud of. She often notes that 2017 is a year where terroir really speaks: warm enough for ripeness, but without the heat that can blur site and nuance. Here, Volnay’s natural elegance and perfume come through with clarity and ease.

This is a very appealing, classically styled Volnay: supple rather than powerful, expressive without excess, and a fine example of Jane Eyre’s sensitive handling in a vintage that rewards restraint and precision.

Maison Jane Eyre

Jane Eyre’s rise in Burgundy has been an extraordinary story. Since her first vintage in 1998, Jane has honed her skills working alongside some of the world’s most respected winemakers, including Comtes Lafon, Ernie Loosen in the Mosel and Freddie Mugnier in Chambolle-Musigny. Her wines have gained critical acclaim from critics like Jancis Robinson, Tim Atkin, and Neal Martin. More recently she received her RVF second star and became the first woman to win the Negociant of the Year title in 2021.

Through gentle extraction techniques, thoughtful oak usage, and early bottling, Jane creates Burgundies that are accessible and appealing even in their early stages. Her wines have a distinct style - delicate and inviting, with supple tannins and vibrant fruits.
