Volnay Premier Cru Clos de la Chapelle Monopole, Domaine Clos de la Chapelle, 2023 is an elegant, terroir-expressive Pinot Noir that exemplifies Volnay’s signature finesse and aromatic clarity. From the historic monopole vineyard the domaine is named for, the 2023 shows a perfumed bouquet of red cherry, raspberry and kirsch with subtle baking spice and floral tones, framed by fresh acidity and fine, silky tannins.
Domaine Clos de la Chapelle is the modern continuation of an old Volnay estate centred on this monopole site, now farmed organically and biodynamically with a strong focus on letting each Premier Cru show its terroir.
The 2023 vintage across Burgundy was notable for excellent ripening conditions and overall balance, producing wines with lively fruit purity alongside refreshing energy. A lovely pairing for this wine would be duck breast with a cherry reduction, roasted chicken with herbs, or mushroom risotto, which echo its red fruit character and fine structure.
