Vintage report
Chile's 2021 vintage arrived after a growing season that tested patience before rewarding it. A cool, dry summer across Casablanca, Maipo, and Colchagua kept yields modest and pushed ripening later than usual, with harvest dates slipping back and growers keeping a careful eye on the weather. The lack of excessive heat during the critical ripening window was, in the end, a gift: grapes came in with good natural acidity intact and concentration built gradually rather than forced.
The result is a vintage we find genuinely exciting rather than just quietly competent. Casablanca's Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay show real precision and drive. Maipo Cabernet Sauvignon has the structure to age but isn't hiding behind it — there's fruit there now if you want it. Colchagua's reds, Carmenère especially, feel focused rather than overblown. Most whites are drinking well already; the better reds will reward patience until 2027 and beyond.
