Jane Eyre’s Santenay Blanc 2022 is a beautifully poised and cool-headed expression of Chardonnay that neatly defies expectations of a warm, “solar” vintage. Drawn from a high-altitude site with stony soils, Jane produced just ten barrels, harvesting early to lock in freshness.
Aromatically, it’s precise and mineral, with notes of waxed apple, pear and almond cream layered over a stony, lime-tinged core. The palate is lean and focused, driven by citrus and verbena, with crunchy acidity and a real sense of tension through the finish.
This is a very food-friendly white, its freshness and acidity making it an easy match for grilled white fish, roast chicken with lemon and herbs, asparagus or fennel dishes, and light cream sauces. It’s equally happy on its own, but really comes alive at the table.
