Champagne Pol Roger Brut Vintage 2016 is an attractive, deep, golden colour with a continuous thread of lingering bubbles. The nose is instantly powerful and complex, revealing the maturity of the wine, developing aromas of quince and apple, combined with richer notes of dried fruits. The palate shows a creamy, voluptuous and well-balanced structure and the long-lasting finish boasts sumptuous almond nuttiness balanced with citrus freshness.

The wine has a full-bodied structure and pleasing maturity, without detracting from the overarching delicacy.

Pol Roger

The story of this Champagne House begins in 1849 with a young Pol Roger, who at just 18 years of age, made his maiden wine sale in the village of Aÿ, where he had spent his formative years. This pivotal step was driven by family circumstances; his father, a notary, faced an incurable illness that left him unable to continue his practice. Luckily, the growth of Pol’s enterprise was swift and his firm moved from Aÿ to Épernay. A turn came in 1855 when Pol decided to focus on producing Brut Champagne, a drier style that he knew would resonate with the discerning palates of the English. By the time Pol Roger succumbed to pneumonia in 1899, he had gained widespread recognition.
