Pernand-Vergelesses Premier Cru Sous Frétille Blanc from Domaine Rapet is a poised, mineral-driven Chardonnay from one of the Côte de Beaune’s most distinctive sites, lying on steep limestone and marl slopes beneath the Corton hill.
The warm but well-balanced 2020 vintage brings ripe orchard fruit alongside freshness and precision. Aromas of white flowers, citrus peel and pear are joined by subtle notes of almond, brioche and chalk. The palate is vibrant and finely structured, with a saline edge and a long, focused finish.
It will be fabulous with pan-seared scallops, grilled sea bass with beurre blanc, asparagus risotto, or roast chicken in a light cream sauce. Aged Comté or delicate goat’s cheese also work beautifully.
