Proper Argentinian Malbec! Just what you should expect. Intensely coloured still showing youth with some notes of violet. The nose is typical of red fruits such as plums and cherries with hints of vanilla behind from the oak maturation. Full bodied and round with ripe and sweet tannins to back the luscious fruit flavours. Just the thing for a good steak.
Another exceptional offering from Maria Eugenia Baigorria and Sergio Jimenez from their alluvial vineyards in the top area of Mendoza Lujan de Cuyo. Hand picked as is all the fruit at this classy estate, the grapes undergo a second hand selection when they reach the winery to ensure only the finest fruit makes it into the blend. It's then given a 2 or 3 day cold soak to extract great colour and fruit flavour before the cool temperature vinification which takes around three weeks. After the malolactic fermentation the wine is aged for 7 months in French and American oak barrels.
This is a great wine for drinking now with just about all red meats but it will reward cellaring for a few years too. The wine is perfectly balanced, full flavoured and chewy with a bold mid-palate and generous finish.
