This wonderful Grand Cru from the Drouhin-Laroze stable is made from old vines which are naturally low cropping and thus give a wine of great concentration. Black fruits and mineral dominate the palate and the fruit shows great ripeness. On the palate it's generous and has great depth of flavour, a moderate body with the ripe black fruit supported by plenty of ripe tannin too. Drink it with some well hung venison.
In the Middle Ages, Latricières-Chambertin produced such good quality wines that is was called the "Petite Merveille" (tiny wonder). "Latricières" is derived from "La Tricière" which in old Burgundian dialect refers to land that is unfit to farm, land that has barely any value at all. Ironically, it is now some of the most valuable agricultural land in the world.
