A wine that has the hallmark of Anna Maria Abbona, namely elegance. The bouquet is dominated by floral notes of roses and iris together with spice notes that are even more obvious on the silky palate that is once more showing great elegance. It finishes with soft ripe tannins on the palate that show a good back bone. This is an excellent wine that is designed for fairly young drinking and would make an excellent partner to well flavoured poultry or meat dishes.
This wine is from relatively young vines (10 to 15 years old) grown in the limestone rich marl soils of the Langhe hills. After a traditional vinification is steel tanks, the wines were aged in large Slavonian oak botti. Great wine - a junior Barolo.

Vintage report
The 2022 growing season in Piedmont was shaped above all by heat and drought. A dry winter was followed by an exceptionally warm summer, with temperatures pushing well beyond seasonal norms across much of northern Italy. Rainfall was scarce when vines needed it most, forcing roots to dig deep and concentrating sugars rapidly. Growers who managed yields carefully and picked with precision — neither too early in a panic nor too late as the heat pressed on — got the best out of it. Those who irrigated where permitted, or had older vines with deeper root systems, fared noticeably better.
The result is a vintage of considerable depth and structure, with Nebbiolo in particular producing wines of real concentration and firm, grippy tannins. Barolo and Barbaresco from 2022 are not subtle — they are bold, serious wines with the stuffing to age well, though the tannins in many bottles still need time to knit together properly. We would leave the top Barolos alone until at least 2028, and the best examples will reward patience well beyond that. Barbera, with its natural acidity, handled the heat impressively and is drinking well now.
