Ripe black cherry, damson and dried cranberry unfold on the nose, layered with notes of tobacco, cocoa, sweet spice and a touch of volcanic smokiness. The palate is deep and structured, with firm, well-knit tannins and a savoury, mineral drive that carries through to a long, complex finish. Powerful yet refined, it benefits from decanting and will continue to evolve beautifully over time. Try it with wild mushroom and truffle risotto, slow-roasted aubergine with pomegranate and herbs, or a rich tomato and lentil ragù.
Donnachiara Taurasi Per Umberto Riserva DOCG 2018 is a special selection, named in tribute to the family’s patriarch. Made from Aglianico grown in the hills of Irpinia and aged extensively before release, it represents a more concentrated, age-worthy expression of Taurasi. The 2018 vintage brings both depth and balance, combining the power of the variety with polish and precision.
