Domaine Horgelus, Rouge De Gala, 2022

This Domaine Horgelus red wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tannat, the latter being a local grape variety making rich and powerful reds. The wine has a fabulous concentration with aromas of blackcurrant, licquorice and spices. On the palate it has soft, ripe tannins to support the dark fruit flavours. Smooth and deeply flavoured it is the ideal accompaniment to grilled or roast meats and soft cheeses.

This wine is a thunderous meeting of four great grape varieties. The Merlot gives sweet and savoury notes while the Tannat, the most Gascon of all the grapes, gives power but also elegance. Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon give depth and power to this well balanced wine It is packed with perfumes and flavours of small red fruits, bramble and blackcurrant supported by spices. The tannins are soft and round and the palate fresh and vibrant.
