Silky yet gently structured, Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard’s 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge shows ripe red cherry and raspberry fruit, with notes of violet, subtle spice and a touch of earth. The palate is supple and medium-bodied, with fine but slightly firmer tannins than 2019, balanced by fresh acidity and a composed finish. Pair with roast duck, pork tenderloin, mushroom dishes or soft, washed-rind cheeses.
The warm, sunny 2018 vintage delivered generous, expressive reds that are open and approachable, while retaining enough freshness and structure to age well over the medium term.
