Anne and Hervé Sigaut kindly postponed relaxing in to the weekend to host Nathan and me for a tasting at 6.30pm on a Friday. And we are very glad they did.
From the village wine right up to the senior crus, the domaine has managed to capture Chambolle’s signature florality and sensuousness. The Chambolle-Musigny 'Les Bussières' Vieilles Vignes 2021 is a classic expression of this much-loved village, showing both elegance and depth. Sourced from old vines bordering Morey-Saint-Denis, it brings a touch of structure alongside the signature Chambolle silkiness.
The nose is fragrant and pure, with notes of ripe cherry, raspberry, and a whisper of violet. On the palate, there’s lovely concentration, fine-grained tannins, and a mineral streak that adds lift. It’s a beautifully poised wine that’s drinking well young but has the finesse and backbone to evolve with time in bottle.
The grapes are biodynamically farmed, 100% destemmed, and the wines unfiltered and unfined.
