The Catherine Marshall Red Slate Riesling is a delightful expression of cool-climate South African Riesling, offering a harmonious balance of fruit, acidity, and minerality that makes it both versatile and memorable.
This wine exudes vibrant aromas of sweet yet zesty fresh limes, crisp apple, beeswax, and wild honey. On the palate, bright acidity brings a core of tension, beautifully balanced by subtle fruit sweetness and a lively citrus finish.
Riesling, often referred to as an "Eskimo" variety, thrives in cold climates, making it ideally suited to Elgin’s cool days and chilly nights during the growing season. These conditions enable the production of a Cape expression reminiscent of the classic German Mosel style, showcasing finesse, freshness, and elegance.
Pair it with Chinese, Cajun, Japanese and Thai fare. Roasted pork, roasted duck, seafood, tandoori curries and cheeses like gorgonzola, feta, mozzarella.
