Catherine Marshall is doing amazing things in Elgin Valley, and this 2023 Chenin Fermented in Clay is an absolute beauty.

The focus here is entirely on terroir, with the Chenin fermented in clay amphorae and some neutral oak. The resultant wine has a wonderfully evocative nose, full of flowers, stone fruit and minerally notes, whilst the palate has impressive tension and depth. This is excellent winemaking from one of South Africa's most exciting growers.
