The 2022 Bodegas Añadas Care Dominio de Laidi Blanco Sobre Lías is a fresh, textured Spanish white with real character. Made from Chardonnay and Garnacha Blanca, and aged on its lees (sobre lías), it offers a lovely balance of bright fruit and subtle complexity.
You’ll find notes of crisp apple, pear, and citrus, layered with a gentle creaminess and a hint of nuttiness from the lees ageing. It’s clean and vibrant, with a smooth, slightly rounded palate and a refreshing finish.
Easy to enjoy but with enough depth to stand up to food, this is a smart, great-value white that punches above its weight.

Cariñena in 2022 sat squarely in the grip of the heatwave conditions that scorched much of Spain that summer. The region, already accustomed to heat and drought stress on its high-altitude plateau south of Zaragoza, faced an extreme season that tested even the most experienced growers. Rainfall was scarce across the growing cycle, and summer temperatures pushed well beyond the seasonal norm, accelerating ripening and demanding swift decisions at harvest. Those who picked at the right moment did well; those who hesitated risked losing freshness in their fruit altogether.
What landed in the cellar was concentrated and generous — Garnacha in particular delivered wines with real density and ripe, dark fruit character, though the best examples held onto enough acidity to stay lively rather than sinking into jamminess. Cariñena, the grape variety the region takes its name from, also performed well where yields were kept in check. These are not wines that need years of patience: most are drinking well now and will continue to do so until 2026 to 2028, with the more structured examples perhaps finding another gear by 2025.
