The 2020 Barolo Bricco San Pietro from Anna Maria Abbona comes from the single vineyard of Bricco San Pietro in Monforte d’Alba — and what a wine it is. Although the vineyard itself is quite large, Anna Maria Abbona owns only a small portion, lending this Barolo a real sense of focus and identity. The nose is expressive and classic, showing red fruits, floral notes and a subtle hint of liquorice.
On the palate, bright red fruit takes centre stage, delivered with impressive purity and precision. Fine, elegant tannins give the wine shape and drive without heaviness, supporting graceful development over the next 5 to 10 years. A distinctive balsamic note emerges on the long, well-balanced finish, adding freshness and complexity.
This Barolo is a natural partner for braised beef, slow-cooked lamb, game dishes or rich mushroom-based recipes, and it also shines alongside aged hard cheeses, where its structure and aromatic depth really come into their own.
