Barbera d'Alba, Anna Maria Abbona, 2023
- Red Still
- 75cl
- 14%
Produced from 100 % Barbera grapes around the Alba area, Anna Maria Abbona’s Barbera d’Alba shows the variety’s trademark intensity of fresh red fruit - cherry and plum - with a backdrop of subtle spice and a touch of balsamic complexity. The wine is fermented and partly aged in stainless steel to preserve brightness and purity, with some time in wood to add structure and depth, delivering a medium-bodied palate with juicy fruit, lively acidity and a soft, persistent finish that reflects its terroir.
This Barbera’s vibrant acidity and fruit-driven profile make it an exceptionally food-friendly wine. A classic Piedmont pairing is pasta al ragù (tomato-based meat sauce), where the wine’s acidity lifts the richness of the dish and complements its savoury depth. It also works beautifully with grilled red meats, charcuterie or aged cheeses, or even pizza with rich toppings, making it a versatile choice for convivial meals.
