This month we’d like to introduce you to our new Junior Sales Manager Jen, who joined the Gerrard Seel team at the end of September. Jen is based in Manchester and having worked in bars and restaurants across the city for many years, has a good understanding of what wines your customers will love and how to make the most out of your wine list.
Jen has already been out and about meeting many of you and will be working closely with you to develop new and exciting lists, offer support and help you and your team to get the best out of your wine offer. We had a catch up with Jen before she set out on the road...
Q: How did you get into the wine trade?
I was given the opportunity to do WSET level 2 about 9 years ago whilst managing a bar and I really enjoyed it. It sparked an interest from there.
Q: What are you enjoying most about your role so far?
Getting out and about and meeting new people as well as discovering all the great wines we have to offer.
Q: What’s your current favourite wine on the list?
I’m still making my way through the list of course, but I sampled Mas de Daumas Gassac, Foliiiiie by Gassac NV last week and its fantastic! A really interesting sparkling Chardonnay from the South of France, white gold in colour with super fine bubbles. It has big floral aromas and a vibrant peach and grapefruit zest. Really fresh and exciting.
Q: Any fun facts or hobbies outside of work?
When I’m not working I really love getting out hiking and camping. North Wales and the Lakes are my favourite spots.
Q: Dream food and wine pairing?
Got to be grilled seafood with a glass of crisp Vinho Verde preferably with a sea view to go with.
Q: Finally — red, white, or fizz?
That’s a completely unfair question! But if I had to pick I would have to go fizz. Always fun popping the bottles!
