Try Champagne & Fries Saturday 10th January
This day started a couple of years ago as a celebration of two of the best foods that seamlessly match together. The elegant acidity of Champagne cutting through the salty fat of fries, with the bubbles cleansing the palate for another mouthful crunchy mouthful. They are the perfect mid January pairing!
You can of course use any type of fizz. Cava and Prosecco work great as good alternatives, or try different types of chips/fries. Why not try a taster menu with all the different options? Here are some ideas:
- Traditional Fries – Champagne (and extra Dry will give an added sweetness to the salty goodness)
- Sweet Potato Fries – Rosé Champagne (The natural sweetness in the sweet potato complements the red berry notes in Rosé)
- Truffle Fries – 100% Pinot Meunier Champagne (The earthy flavours in the truffle is enhanced by the depth of flavours in the wine)

If you are celebrating Scotland’s national poet with a traditional haggis, neeps, and tatties we have a selection of wine to serve which will compliment the meal.
A popular choice is an Australian Shiraz, where the peppery notes match with the spicy flavours of the dish, for this you can try Murphy Vineyards, Shiraz, 2022.

Or for something more complex, Bodegas Señorío de Arana, Viña Del Oja Rioja Reserva, 2018, where the layers flavours compliment the richness and herbal notes of the meat.

For a interesting option try a white wine. Château Canet, Fleur De Charlotte Viognier, 2024 has a freshness that balances the earthy flavours in the meat and the weight of the wine adds to the mashed and buttery vegetables.
