Château Canet Alternative Chardonnay is picked in the cool of the day and once pressed, the juice was vinified in new French oak barrels where it was also aged for 12 months. The result is a top class Chardonnay, rich with the aromas and flavours of vanilla and brioche above the finery of pure fruit. Long on the palate the wine has great freshness and a fine structure with fruit as the backbone.
Château Canet Alternative Chardonnay is very much Burgundian in style. In fact, Floris Lemstra spent his formative years in the wine trade working in Burgundy and it remained his desire to produce a Chardonnay wine that would rival the great wines produced in the Cote D'or. He found a new area of vineyard with particularly mineral soil structure that is ideally suited to the Chardonnay grape and thus, his idea for an alternative to Burgundy was born.
