The company now known as Taylor’s was founded in 1692 by British wine merchant Job Bearsley. His descendant, Bartholomew Bearsley would later become the first British wine shipper to buy property in the Douro. This allowed him to build relationships with farmers and secure the first pick of their wines, beginning a rich and storied legacy of port production. Taylor’s remains independent today and celebrated their 325th anniversary in 2017.
Taylor’s 10 Year Old Tawny Port is the best-selling 10 Year Tawny Port in the United Kingdom. This Port style is fully matured in seasoned oak casks and aged for many years, which gives the wine its characteristic amber colour, as well as mellow flavours and a smooth palate. Taylor’s blend is made from its extensive reserves of old cask-aged Ports which are matured in their Oporto “lodges”, cool cellars located on Portugal’s Atlantic coast.
