Scotto Cellars proudly stands as a 5th-generation family-owned and managed wine company. Their winemaking roots trace back to Italy in 1883 when Salvatore Dominic Scotto, an officer in the Italian Navy, began crafting wine at his home on the Island of Ischia, just off the Italian coast. His son, Dominic, would continue this tradition when he migrated to Brooklyn in 1903, selling homemade wine from a horse-drawn cart in five-gallon crocks.
Following Prohibition, his grandsons would carry on their legacy, creating Villa Armando which they nicknamed Rustico. Still produced today, Rustico has filled over 200 million glasses since its inception, making it one of California’s oldest wine brands. 1963 marked the Scotto family’s first harvest in California where they continued the production of their flagship wine while expanding their portfolio.
