Nestled in Valgatara at the heart of the Valpolicella Classico region, the family-run Luigi Righetti estate has been crafting wines for over a century. The Righetti family’s legacy began in 1909 when Angelo Righetti began producing wines on the estate. Today, fifth-generation winemaker Gianmaria Righetti carries on the tradition. Remarkably, his father, Luigi Righetti, who took over the estate’s operations in the 1940s and expanded production beyond local demand, is still actively involved in its day-to-day operations. The Luigi Righetti estate has seen remarkable transformation under Gianmaria, who has expanded the wine range to include international offerings and single vineyard selections.
Unlike other Valpolicellas, Luigi Righetti’s are fermented over the lees of the previous year’s Amarone, giving them a unique depth and rich dried berry flavors. The Campolieti Valpolicella Classico Ripasso is a great example of this. Aptly, the name “Campolieti” means “happy fields,” reflecting both the joy the Righetti family takes in cultivating the vineyard and the delight many customers experience upon their first taste of this Ripasso Valpolicella.
