Spearheaded by the Priorat icon Daphne Glorian with winemaker Esther Nin, Clos I Terrasses is one of Spain’s leading estates, most famed for their Clos Erasmus (a regular 100-pointer in the Wine Advocate). Laurel is so much more than a second wine though, and has scored consistently up with the finest Priorats of the last several vintages by the Wine Advocate’s Luis Guiterrez.
The key grape here is Garnacha (Grenache), farmed biodynamically, which is one of the few varieties that continues to be productive at 70+ years old, enabling old vine wines of great complexity that maintain their vivacity from the steep, stony hills of Priorat.
