Successive generations of owners have been producing world-renowned wines at Château Clinet for centuries. Located 40km to the east of Bordeaux, on the right bank of the Garonne River and on one of the highest points on Pomerol’s plateau, Clinet is one of the oldest vineyards in the appellation. The estate’s gravelly clay soil lends itself to Merlot production which accounts for eighty percent of the estate’s vineyard.

Since 1998, the estate has been in the care of the Laborde family. Ronan Laborde took the helm in 2004 and has since focused on modernizing their wine production: replanting vineyards, improving environmental practices, and rebuilding the winemaking facilities. Ronan’s namesake wine, Ronan by Clinet, is a 100% Melot that is sourced from selected growers close to the château in appellations that include Côtes de Castillon, Côtes de Bourg, Lussac St-Emilion and Bordeaux. Intended as a new take on Claret, this wine is forward, with a balanced texture and persistent finish and chewy tanins that are mellowed through the oak aging process.
