Mulled Wine Recipes

Mulled Wine, a cup of Festive warmth for your customers. Whether you are planning a few cups on Christmas Eve for your regulars, or have a large outdoor event planned we've got some great Gerrard Seel team recipes for you to try, including a traditional red, a warming white and a peppery rose. Red

1 x 750ml Red Wine
1 x Pint of Water
1 x Orange (Zested and Sliced)
2 x Cinnamon Sticks
3 x Cloves
2 x Star Anise
2 x Tablespoons of Caster Sugar

Add water, orange, cloves, cinnamon, star anise and sugar to the pan. Bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and add the wine. Gently simmer for 30-40 minues checking the sweetness and adding more sugar if necessary. Strain out the spices and pulp and serve with a slice of orange or cinnamon stick.

Rosé

1 x 750ml Rosé Wine
1 x Star Anise
1 x Ball of Stem Ginger (sliced)
½ x Teaspoon of Black Peppercorns
1 x Red Apple (Sliced)
2 x Creme de Cassis or Blackcurrant Syrup

In a pan pour in wine and spices and gently heat to bubbling. Turn down the heat add the Cassis (or syrup) and apple slices cover and simmer to let the flavours infuse for 20 minutes. Once ready to serve strain the wine and serve with slice of apple.

White

1 x 750ml White Wine
400ml x Cider (or apple juice)
8 x Cloves
2 x Cinnamon Sticks
½ x Lemon (Sliced)
1 x Teaspoon Lemon Juice
1 x Tablespoon Golden Caster Sugar (or honey/agave syrup)

Gently simmer all ingredients in a pan for 5 minutes. Taste and add more sugar if required. Allow to simmer for 20 (lightly flavoured) to 30 minutes (more flavoured). Strain and serve with a slice of lemon.
