This month we’d like to shine a spotlight on our Warehouse Manager, Rod Francis. After first joining Gerrard Seel 17 years ago, Rod has become an essential part of the operation. His steady approach, hard work, and deep familiarity with every inch of the warehouse ensure that each order is handled with care from the moment it arrives with us to the moment it arrives with you.
Whether he’s overseeing stock movements, organising the day’s deliveries, or picking and packing wine, Rod keeps the wine flowing!
We caught up with Rod in-between orders to find out a bit about him...
Q: How did you get into the wine trade?
I actually applied for a driving job at Gerrard Seel with no knowledge of wine at all and here I am these years later managing the warehouse.
Q: What are you enjoying most about your role so far?
There’s always something happening in the warehouse, and I enjoy the pace and the routine of making sure everything gets done properly. I love keeping busy.
Q: What’s your current favourite wine on the list?
A like a powerful red so Anna Maria Abbona Barolo would be my choice.
Q: Any fun facts or hobbies outside of work?
I’m a huge sports fan. Football and Aston Villa are my passion, I also enjoy horseracing and most recently got up at 2.30am to watch the start of The Ashes.
Q: Dream food and wine pairing?
Got to be a medium-rare steak with a glass of red wine. Simple, classic, perfect.
